Recent graduates often think they need a specific HR related degree and HR experience to get started working in this field.
That's not always the case, we're a bit more open minded than that at Tamar HR.
We're looking for someone to start their journey in people and talent development, regardless of your degree. You will though need experience of working or volunteering in a client facing environment. What we are really interested in is that you can build rapport and get on with others, take the initiative and bring an analytical ability to your work. Maybe you have done an industrial placement or summer internship, or perhaps you've worked for a few years in a different industry and would like to move into HR from a different type of role.
So, if this sounds like you and you have a real desire to break into an HR career but have been discouraged by all those job postings for entry level jobs that needing 2 years' HR experience then this may be the opportunity for you.
With us, you'll get 5 years HR experience crammed into 2.
To help make that happen, you'll be put through several ACAS modules and a CIPD Employment Law course, to cover all the HR essentials. Then, after about a year, we'll sponsor you to do a two-year LLM Master's degree in Employment Law. Expect plenty of ad hoc support from colleagues too - we're a friendly, collaborative team
Tamar HR help SMEs across the South West of England to get the best from their employees. You'll be working with a handful of clients to deliver the HR support they need - anything from recruitment and contracts to coaching and grievances. You'll deal with different characters in diverse business sectors. It will stretch you, but we'll make sure it's manageable.
Where are you now?
As described, we are genuinely open minded. You may have just finished your degree or have a few years work experience and are passionate about applying your skills in a practical way, focusing on the people side of what makes a business flourish. Your degree could be in an area that's given you an understanding of how businesses work and what makes people tick - and your wider life experience will have given you emotional resilience and awareness.
You'll also need to have a lot of natural curiosity. Enough to be capable of asking the kinds of questions your clients will need to think about before answering.
