Purpose of the Role
The Infrastructure Engineer is accountable for the selection, creation and maintenance of infrastructure technologies required to meet the needs of the customers, ensuring alignment to CTO strategic targets and architecture outcomes.
The Infrastructure Engineer details how the services or products are engineered and integrated in order to comply with the stated functional, non-functional and operational requirements, and optimized for Total Cost of Ownership. They create or consult on the capability required to operate, maintain and support CTO services, whether this be in house or externally provided.
What does this role holder do (Accountabilities)
Develop and implement core infrastructure technologies, products and services against customer and non-functional requirements, and optimized for Total Cost of Ownership
Ensures the infrastructure technology is engineered to comply with security, availability & resilience, performance & capacity and other operational requirements for the assigned classification rating to achieve a first class customer experience
Works at the CTO Domain and Platform level to define, engineer and integrate infrastructure products, creating solutions and tooling for build and deployment automation
Provides proof of concept and engineering testing criteria to assure operational acceptance of new technologies and versions, collaborating closely with the operations and support teams
Provide Level 3 operational support to other infrastructure teams in the event of major incidents or complex technical issues
The production and ongoing management of infrastructure roadmaps, detailing life cycles of the technology from new products and versions through to end of support and retirement
Assist in the management of all key vendor relationships that are involved in the delivery of the infrastructure services and technology for their technology area
Actively contributes to their Centre of Excellence (COE) specialism by cross sharing of emerging, good and best practice and learnings with their CoE & Community of Practice (CoP) colleagues and adhere to all standards & policies as required by CoE
Fulfils business continuity requirements by participating in disaster recovery exercises
To enable to understand and be in control of upcoming work, participates and actively contributes to Product Increment (PI) planning, system demos and retrospective sessions.
Must be proficient in AWS (EMR, Airflow, EC2, S3, IAM permissions), BitBucket, TeamCity, Python, Automated testing frameworks, Terraform, GIT and Jira. Beneficial to have had experience with formal change management procedures.

Ensures work required is in the Platform Backlog and contains detailed acceptance criteria, so that Operations support or warranty period once a migration of a system is complete is clear and accountable
Responsible for more complex, more risk-exposed, and/or greater number of technical infrastructures.
