Project Manager - Data & Analytics Platform - Azure, GCP

We are supporting a blue chip organisation.

You must have experience of:

  • Software/Product/Applications project delivery experience is key for this role

  • This is a large-scale data platform implementation so will ideally have examples of where you have managed the physical building of a platform.

  • Experience of running projects with budgets of between £1 - 10 million

  • Must be able to deliver on complex and scalable projects, so a background within a large and complex industry/organisation is needed.

This role can be remote, the client base is in London.

The day rate for this role is between £675 to £775 Inside IR35, and it is negotiated based on previous experience.

Initial 6 months contract, with a view for further extensions.

The Role:
The Data & Analytics Platform Project Manager oversees the delivery of the Azure/GCP Platform build & operationalisation as per the detailed design specification through third party resources and by working in close collaboration with the Architecture, Security and Service Delivery teams. The Project Manager will ensure the processes that enable provisioning, access, monitoring, and development on the platform are documented and followed by the various teams associated with the platform including the engineering, development, maintenance and support teams.


  • Bring the detailed design for the data platform to life by managing the implementation of the infrastructure design along with the processes that makes it all work for the various users of the platform.

  • Understand the approach to project delivery and within the Data & Analytics team, and follow through with rigour

  • Manage the project delivery by ensuring that the team are clear on their deliverables and that work is progressing as planned

  • Identify and manage risks, issues (blockers) and dependencies, eliminate conflicts and determine appropriate risk management actions.

  • Own and be accountable for establishing agile values, methods, principles and practices for the delivery of projects and products.

  • Facilitate agile ceremonies, eg product backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives.

  • Raise change requests where changes impact budget, scope or timeline

  • Produce weekly status reports with input from the delivery lead

  • Coach and mentor team members on agile standards and best practices

  • Configure and maintain an agile project management tool (DevOps)

  • Work with product owner and delivery lead to prioritise the backlog


  • Technical expertise in managing Data projects and delivery on Azure/GCP platform

  • Experience in implementing Data platforms and technology solution architectures.

  • Full life cycle project management of technical projects using both waterfall and agile

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Deep understanding of risks and issues management

  • Self-starter and able to drive project delivery

  • Ideally from a computer engineering background;

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to motivate the team and establish effective relationships with team and stakeholders

  • Experience of developing change management plans and best practices in embedding change into the business

  • Measurable experience in working with analytics technologies, with a proven track record for the implementation of data solutions in a PaaS cloud environment;

  • Good knowledge and understanding of different technologies (Azure, GCP, SAP BW) and how they co-exist to create an Analytics Platform

  • Experience managing work with internationally dispersed teams with successful outcomes; and building a network of relationship with relevant technology providers.

  • Extensive experience in delivering technology with 3rd party vendors, including sourcing and quality assurance
