The role will assist with projects that require longer term planning or support as well as providing 3rd Line Support to the Service Desk along with advice and guidance to the 1st & 2nd line support engineers. The role is varied and requires a real team player who has the ability to manage their time efficiently and prioritise
Key Responsibilities:
* Escalation point for the 2nd line support engineer, providing technical support, guidance and mentoring as required
* Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure across the Owen Mumford network
* Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
* Maintenance of the Network Hardware environment including Firewalls, Routers, network switches and access points
* Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
* Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
* Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
* Provide remote support to associates in overseas offices
* Production of Project Plans relating to IT projects
* Creation of technical documentation for current and future projects to aid the validation effort
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Recent Experience of working in a busy IT department ideally within a regulated environment
* Experience with:
* Virtualization / VMware
* Installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows based environments, including Microsoft RDS
* Monitoring systems
* Knowledge of:
* Microsoft products including Desktop (10), Server Operating Systems (2016 & 2019), Systems Centre and Operations Manager
* Microsoft SQL Server from a setup, support and DBA viewpoint
* Active Directory
* Veeam backup solution
* Networking (Dell or Cisco), routing and enterprise firewalls (WatchGuard)
* Configuration and Administration of Cisco Unified Communications Manager
* HPe server hardware and Nimble Storage Systems (Desirable)
* Excellent communications skills and be able to make technical jargon understandable
* Resilience and able to adjust to conflicting priorities / tight deadlines
* Excellent attention to detail
* A flexible and positive attitude and an aptitude for problem solving
* A technical mind for network development and project design

Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours (Flexi-time), based across our Chipping Norton and Woodstock sites when required plus remote home working.
