The Medical Devices & Diagnostics Global Services, L.L.C. (MD&D), Global Supply Chain organization, a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Manager, Robotics and Digital Solutions (RAD) within its Electronic Systems Category. This position will be located on-site in Raritan New Jersey, Bridgewater New Jersey, Redwood City California or Santa Clara California.

Job Description


The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for managing strategic procurement activities related to Electronics including developing and implementing multi-year sourcing strategies, supplier relationship/performance management, resolving supply disruptions impacting the business, risk management, contracts, and cost performance. The position will be measured based on total end-to-end value creation, including financial performance, quality, reliability, innovation, and adherence to compliance requirements of assigned portfolio.


Scope of responsibilities include:


Category Strategy. Develops and executes global strategies for assigned commodity(s) by leveraging innovative sourcing practices, strategic relationships with suppliers, and collaborating with internal stakeholders while balancing cost performance goals.


Business Initiatives. Leads selected supply chain related initiatives to support ongoing business goals and continuous improvement along with other projects as directed by management.


Electronic Component Shortages. Responsible to own and resolve critical electronic shortages in a timely manner to minimize and/or eliminate significant business impacts by working globally with distributors, OEMs, brokers, and other open market sources.


Supplier Relationship/Performance Management. Manage the interactions with critical suppliers that supply the goods and services to J&J including relationship building, business and quality reviews, data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement initiatives


Sourcing. Ensure execution of category strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders for reducing total costs of externally purchased Electronics, goods and services and improving levels of quality, service, reliability, and value to the business


Contracting. Systematically and efficiently manage contract creation, approval, administration, and compliance to maximize financial and operational performance and minimize risk


Business Engagement. Manage the needs and expectations of the business to drive satisfaction while ensuring compliance to procurement standards and alignment with procurement strategies


Procurement Strategy & Enablement. Develop and maintain the strategic direction for the Procurement function, ensure alignment to strategic goals and standards and effectively manage the enabling tools and technology required across the function


Qualifications


A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree preferred.


A minimum of 5 years of electronics sourcing experience is required. (medical device or a regulated industry is preferred).


Proven track record of working with EMS contract manufacturers and SMT device manufacturers in key electronics sub-commodities including passives, programable/logic ICs, connectors, and memory.


Demonstrated experience in sourcing critical and hard to find electronic components within limited time horizons (days/weeks, not months) to minimize and/or eliminate manufacturing line down situations.


Proven track record of developing supply and buffer stock agreements with focus on quality, cost, inventory management, supply continuity, dual sourcing, end of life/last time buy terms


Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of MS Office products and ERP systems, preferably SAP. Strong Excel skills.


Ability to develop business justifications for component lifetime and last time buy purchase decisions.


Experience with make vs. buy decision making, ROI analysis. New Medical Device product introduction experience preferred


Experience with strategic management of electronics commodities, developing supplier benchmarking studies and implementation of sourcing plans


Certifications: CPSM, CPIM preferred


Experience collaborating with and influencing high performing technical teams to support and implement sourcing strategies


Understanding business trends and patterns and then translate into commodity specific impact plans


Proven ability to consistently achieve stretch goals and objectives


Proven ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues


Experience with extensive cross-functional team leadership. Proven track record of promoting positive team culture and employee development


Collaboration at all levels of organization; includes interaction and communication with internal/external senior levels of management


Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Strong negotiation skills and experience with proven track record of savings and problem solving of critical issues impacting the business


Approximately 25% travel to both domestic and international suppliers may be required.
