The DocuSign Professional Services team manages customer implementations and integrations of the DocuSign Agreement Cloud (DAC) products. As a highly visible and customer-facing position, the Technical Architect (TA) works with an exceptional professional services organization, including Product Consultants, Project Managers Technical Consultants and Solution Architects.


The TA acts as the Agreement Cloud architecture expert and technical subject matter expert in support of customers and partners deploying DocuSign Agreement Cloud solutions. The successful candidate will have customer facing expertise combined with deep technical acumen. They will possess a proven ability to understand complex business requirements and to architect technical solutions to meet those needs. The role is responsible for ensuring successful project outcomes by architecting effective solutions that are aligned with the customer's business needs. The Technical Architect provides knowledge on DocuSign APIs in support of custom integrations.


This is achieved through effective communication among customers, project teams and other stakeholders, thereby driving projects to successful attainment of the expected business outcomes. The successful candidate will play a critical part in the continued success of the customer's accelerated adoption of DocuSign Agreement Cloud.


This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders (internally and externally). In addition, the TA must be able to drive conversations and decisions across many of our internal organizations such as Support, Product Management, Product Engineering, Sales, Solution Engineering, and Business Development.


The TA will play a critical role in the success of the Professional Services team. We are expanding a world class Professional Services organization that already has a proven track record of working with Fortune 500 IT departments, system integrators, independent software manufacturers and open-source communities.


This position is an individual contributor and reports to the Professional Services Technical Manager and is designated Flex.


Responsibilities


Technical Acumen and Consulting


Architect, design and in many cases develop high quality solutions for customers' Agreement Cloud platform deployment using cutting edge cloud technologies
Provide technical expertise that ensures customer expectations are properly set and subsequently met
Lead complex implementations, providing best practices and ensuring the design results in a scalable solution
Provide technical, delivery and thought leadership on all Services-related custom engineering/development activities
Guide and coach project and partner teams in design, architecture, configuration, and deployment
Develop best practice solutions for common technical requirements and/or product gaps
Provide thought leadership and support organizational initiatives to expand and advance our Professional Services offerings
Ensure that best practices and industry standards are incorporated into all custom solutions


Customer Engagement


Build trusted relationships with the customer to guide them through decision making and industry best practices
Identify customer resource requirements and dependencies, and address gaps in a coordinated and mutually beneficial manner
Recommend creative solutions for the customer's unique requirements that ensure long term scalability for the product roadmap
Build strong relationships with customer architects and development teams, acting as a trusted advisor to leverage the DAC platform across their business
Manage escalations and/or resolve issues in partner and DocuSign led projects


Collaboration with Product, Sales, Customer Success and other internal teams


Provide guidance with pre-sales motions via scoping/estimation for medium to complex engagements
Partner with the Project Manager to ensure correct planning and controls on scope, budget and timeline
Represent Professional Services in cross-functional projects to develop innovative products and services that contribute to DocuSigns competitive advantage and industry leadership
Develop and share subject matter expertise in upcoming product functionality


Coaching and Mentoring


Coach team members towards consistent and scalable technical delivery for DocuSign customers
Provide feedback to team members on configuration and deliverables
Provide guidance to and assist in developing practitioners


Other Responsibilities


Orchestrate escalation resolution with customers and internal resources
Align with business and key stakeholders on requirements and outcomes
Collaborate and communicate across the entire account (customer and internal stakeholders) to ensure alignment
Meet Professional Services success criteria including utilization targets, customer satisfaction score, and financial requirements
Serve as a trusted advisor for customer business reviews and senior level strategy discussions
Deliver on-time and on-budget collaborative engagements to our customers that provide impactful solutions leading to referenceable accounts enabling strong adoption, renewal and upsell
Plan, organize, and manage all tasks, project decisions, escalations, and prioritizations of an engagement to ensure customer satisfaction; this includes developing Architecture of technical solutions to address client needs and tracking to long term customer objectives, success criteria and milestones
Collaborate with DocuSign team to proactively uncover additional customer needs and support documenting client requirements


Basic qualifications


BA/BS degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent
15+ years working directly with customers to understand business needs and applying technology solutions to those requirements
10+ years of prior development/coding experience in product engineering or custom/services engineering with hands-on experience in web technologies using REST/SOAP APIs, XML, publisher/listener architecture, modal-view-controller and software technologies using .NET/C#, Java, PHP, Ruby or similar
3+ years' experience of mobile development and technologies
10+ years' experience of leading implementation/solution architecture development teams in Software-as-a-Service platforms
5+ years of design experience leveraging cloud architectures such as Salesforce, Azure, and/or AWS plus API Middleware connectors such as Mulesoft, Boomi
5+ years of experience in relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle
Demonstrated cross platform/cross product architecture expertise delivering mission critical solutions to enterprise and high growth customers
Expertise partnering with account executives and pre-sales engineering resources in technology blueprint and vision discussions
Demonstrated solution visioning experience from services sales process
Proven track record of leading larger projects with multiple workstreams, resources, and products
Outstanding writing, verbal communication and presentation skills


Preferred qualifications


Proven track record of architecting and implementing solutions that result in customers leveraging the DocuSign platform and resulting in continued product renewals
Understanding of electronic/digital signatures, document/content management and/or workflow systems and their application to business process improvements
Experience implementing CRM systems preferably Salesforce, Dynamics CRM
Strong multitasking and organization skills
Experience working in one or more of the following industries: FinServ, Tech, Telecom, Healthcare, Real Estate, Insurance, Education, Public Sector
