IT Support Specialist
The primary role of the IT Support Specialist at Times-Shamrock Communications, is to provide the rapid resolution of technical problems. Specifically, this position will perform duties related to end user technical support, for both hardware and software used throughout the organization. The Support Specialist is also involved with procurement, upgrades and repairs of computing and networking hardware across our offices. Although based out of our Pottsville office, some short travel is required between our other Northeast PA locations.
Additional responsibilities include:
Learning and supporting our centralized systems related to our editorial, advertising, finance, production, information security, general networking, and telecommunications systems.Answer general helpdesk support calls.Complete IT-related projects as assigned and perform other IT duties as required. Times-Shamrock Information Technology also works closely with our digital billboard and radio groups in supporting those divisions nationwide.Test and evaluate existing network systemsPerform regular maintenance to ensure that networks and computers operate correctlyTroubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and Internet systemsResponsible for a variety of recovery tasks (eg, installing and testing replacement hardware and software, keeping customer apprised of work status)Solve technical problems quickly and effectivelyWork often as part of a team of technicians to resolve high-prioritysituations; work independently on routine (lower-priority) problemsWork well in high-pressure situations (eg, computer or system shutdowns)Make decisions quickly, often with limited informationTrain users how to use new hardware, software; use new features of existing software; etc.Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, have strong application troubleshooting abilities as well as excellentcustomer service skills. There is a rotating on-call schedule that is required every 5 weeks.
Salary commensurate with experience, we also offer a comprehensive employee benefits package. This is a Full time position at 40 hours per week. A valid drivers licence is required, ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs short distances
Technical requirements:Experience with MS Windows Server 2012/16/19, Windows 10Basic Active Directory experienceBasic LAN and WAN troubleshootingExperience with Google G Suite for BusinessExperience with Mac OS XBasic certifications or relative experience in hardware repair
Education and experience requirements:
A bachelors degree in Information technology is preferred. An equivalent real world experience of 2-3 years is also acceptable for the appropriate candidate. One or more years of helpdesk experience is preferable, though we will train the right candidate.
A valid Driver's license is required, Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. short distances
