The Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Engineering group with the Enterprise Computing division at Morgan Stanley is responsible for designing and implementing the firms global Linux infrastructure. The group is involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of numerous products, including hardware, the Linux OS platform, system configuration, critical infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.), high availability products and virtualization technologies.
We are seeking an experienced Linux engineer to focus specifically on the Linux server infrastructure which supports our low-latency trading business. The role requires deep Linux systems knowledge in architecting, certifying and deploying new solutions for the business, and the ability to troubleshoot down to the lowest technical levels in a high-pressure, revenue-generating context. Helping to develop the technical and non-technical skills of other engineers on the team is also a key part of the role.
We are looking for a Senior Linux System Administrator with Perl or Python coding experience.
You will be writing secure, testable, robust code.
You will be joining a global team of accomplished engineers, developers, and operations specialists.
You will be expected to collaborate with a global team to accomplish deliverables.
You will be responsible to participate in open forums with your global team to discuss projects.
Expert knowledge of Linux-low latency, O/S, storage and networking protocols.
Solid understand of Linux Kernel.
Experience with Kernel bypass, FPGA, or another novel high-performance specialty
Excellent troubleshooting skills across hardware, O/S, network, and storage.
Proficient in Scripting language such as Bash, Perl, or Python and Shell scripting.
Experience with source code management tool: Git, SVN, Perforce etc...
Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills in a highly visible, fast paced enterprise environment.
An understanding of SDLC and Change Management practices
Ability to work with a global team.
Effective communication skills to a diverse audience
Ability to write technical documentation and teach team members.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server Certification
Experience with high-performance network devices (Solarflare, Mellanox, Exablaze)
Experience of using a modern configuration management system (examples such as Salt Stack, Puppet, or Chef) to automate the management of a large-scale Linux deployment.
Experience with containerization and orchestration are a bonus
Enthusiasm for modern Devops tools and practices including Git, Jenkins, automated testing, and continuous integration.
Experience working in a large, multi-national enterprise in any industry vertical, showing experience of communicating and collaborating in globally distributed teams.
Self-motivated, ability to identify and resolve issues with minimal oversight
