Network Engineer - Nottingham - Permanent

I am working exclusively with a global manufacturing company, currently seeking a Network Engineer to join their growing Nottingham based team on a permanent basis. Although based in Nottingham, hybrid working is in place with a mix of office and home based working.

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing functional network infrastructure and security, providing first and second level technical support to all internal clients/employees. The position monitors, troubleshoots, and diagnoses network performance, confidentiality, integrity and availability.

Job duties

Engineering projects to address and resolve business needs
Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
Monitor network performance and integrity
Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
Mentor team members on technical issues
Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
Communicate with users when needed
Maintain complete technical documentation
Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalabilitySkills and Experience required :

Proven experience in a similar role
Solid networking background with a focus on Cisco routers and switches hardware
Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting
Routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS
WAN connectivity
Spanning-tree, Port Channels, Load balancing,
Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP, NAT
Experience with: LiveNX, Solarwinds, InfoBlox, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA, Linux, Python/Automation and ServiceNow.
Quality Of Service understanding and configuration, able to customize across all Cisco platforms to support Voice, Video, and selected applications
Excellent understanding of VPN - site to site, client, IPSEC, IKE, DMVPN, tunnel modes, Tunnels between ASAs, Routers
Background in wireless communication design, configuration
Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning
MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting
LDP, TDP, RSVP Label distribution
MPBGP-VPNv4, Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite
Extensive knowledge of Datacentre design utilizing the Nexus product line
Cisco Application Centric Networking
IT related degree qualification
Knowledge of the Cisco ASR 9000 product line
