Assist the Chief Auditor in the strategic direction of standard-setting activities, with a focus on international auditing issues (eg, leading activities in relation to the IAASB and also assessing how such activities impact the work of the ASB) and developing solutions to high priority standards and practice issues. Responsible for directing all activities and initiatives related to interactions with the IAASB. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the audit standard setting process at the ASB and IAASB and current practice and standard-setting issues facing the profession. The Director will work with leaders at the AICPA, IAASB, senior partners of CPA firms, and will help direct the activities of the Audit & Attest Standards team.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities:


Responsible for leading the development of U.S. perspectives on international auditing standard-setting projects (based on input from ASB, chief auditor, and others) and providing input, advice, and support to the U.S. representative on the IAASB.
Identify, implement, and lead approaches to engage in dialogue and influence the direction of standard-setting (eg, with standard-setters, firm leaders, and others)
Identify and assess current practice issues and identify potential solutions through standard-setting, guidance, or other means available
Support the development of innovative approaches to evolving audit and assurance needs and facilitate changes in the standards and guidance to meet those needs (eg, third party assessments, technology)
Lead standard-setting projects as assigned and develop the strategic approach for such projects in coordination with Chief Auditor, ASB chair and task force chair
Liase with appropriate staff within the AICPA and appropriate groups externally as needed (for example, to identify audit trends, issues, and assess impacts on standard setting and guidance)
Build and maintain key relationships with:


IAASB and IAASB staff
Federal and industry regulators with an interest in auditing standards
Key staff of the PCAOB
CAQ


Help develop AICPA positions on current and emerging auditing and attestation issues
Identify and propose how standard-setting can further support the strategic plan of the AICPA
Be an AICPA spokesperson on audit and assurance issues including speaking at key, high exposure, high attendance conferences.
Assist the chief auditor in directing the activities of the Audit & Attest team
Mentor and coach others on the Audit & Attest team
All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:


In-depth knowledge of ASB and IAASB standard setting process and activities
Understanding of current audit standard-setting issues
Innovative and collaborative orientation
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, writing, communication and presentation skills
Ability to lead projects autonomously
Strong leadership and management skills
Demonstrated leadership skills, specifically among CPA professionals. Ability to travel (post-COVID)


Required Experience, Qualifications & Education:


CPA required
10+ years of experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field


Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Education:


Experience in standard-setting related activities with the ASB and IAASB
