Information Security Officer

The main purpose of the role is to provide professional guidance and specialist advice with regard to all information security and risk matters and ensure implementation of all necessary policies, procedures, and processes to achieve compliance with national codes of connection for Police information systems.
To provide support and guidance in respect of key projects ensuring appropriate information assurance requirements are met as part of the planning and implementation.
Main Responsibilities for the Information Security Officer -
To support the West Mercia Police Information Security programme to enable assurance and compliance with wider mandatory information security requirements and national reporting standards.
To support the review and production of policies and best practice for the ongoing management and maintenance of information security management.
To plan and undertake audits of compliance with Information Security to ensure the physical and data security protection of all information systems and information assets, and compliance with information security regulations, standards, policies and information risk management.
To be the initial point of contact for enquiries relating to information security/assurance.
To support the West Mercia Police information risk management framework working closely with Information Asset Owners to ensure that regular risk assessments of information assets are undertaken and risks are managed in accordance with the Force Risk Appetite.To be considered for this role you must have -
Level 5 qualification, or equivalent.
To hold a recognised information security qualification (such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), NSCS Certified Cyber Professional (CCP) or equivalent academic or professional security qualification.
Sound knowledge of Information Security Management standards, HMG Standards and best practice in relation to Information Assurance.
Knowledge and understanding of the Technical, Human Resource, Procurement, Project, and Physical Security issues that impact upon information security.
