About the role
The Networks Consultant role is is a senior technical role within the IT Operations Support Division Team meaning you will be working within a wider group of around 15 IT specialists within the Infrastructure and Networks team.
You will work as part of a wider Networks team which is accountable for the successful provision of high availability network services for both internal and external customers and the delivery of a stable, scalable and supported network platform.
You will work with chose partners to design, deliver and support a modern VOIP platform to the organization with a focus on alignment to contact centre strategy.
The successful Technical Consultant - Networks will have a good mix of the following:
- Recent experience with Extreme Networks or Cisco experience (or CCNA qualification)
- Excellent understanding of Local Area Switching and Routing
- Network Design, Installation, Configuration and Support
- Structured Data Cabling installations
- Avaya Communication Manager experience
- Ability to create complete meaningful network diagrams using Visio
- Understanding of configuration of WAN and VPN technologies
- Understanding and configuration of Network and Telephony Security Principles
- F5 or Checkpoint knowledge
Any of the following would be a bonus:
- Brocade Fiber Switching Administration
- Solarwinds NPM Configuration
- Juniper MX Router Configuration and Administration
- Checkpoint Firewall Administration
- F5 LTM, ASM
- Routing Protocols - BGP, OSPF
My client is a leading Software and Business Solutions organisation with over 1000 staff across their offices in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. In return you will receive a salary of up to £50,000 plus call-out allowance/overtime payment, profit related bonus scheme, 24 days annual leave (rising to a maximum of 30) and life assurance of four times your salary. On completion of the probationary period you can join the group pension plan and obtain up to a 6% match contribution into your pension plan. This role can be based remotely on a daily basis but candidates must live within a reasonable distance of Newport as attendance in the office could be required at short notice.
The successful Technical Consultant will accept that, due to the nature of the role and the work involved, flexible working is required - the business currently operates 7.00am to 7.00pm working day and you will work a 7.5 hour day between these times. Following your successful probationary period you will be eligible to join a paid on call rota with an average of 1 in 4 weeks on call. In return you will receive a standby uplift to your salary plus an enhanced hourly rate for any overtime required).
