Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads and promotes project activities of the Business Intelligence Team in the effective delivery of information to cross-functional business users.
Directs Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse development teams in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning, and standard development practices.
Manages vendors, Full time staff, and consultants across multiple locations through business analysis, system analysis, and application development activities.
Operates cross-functionally as well as manages projects simultaneously and assumes responsibility for the appropriate architecture and technical implementation.
Collaborates directly with the business and IT Team to conceive and implement innovative and scalable solutions to satisfy various business challenges and objectives.
Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met on time.
Leverages in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices, and techniques for managing all activities from design, development, implementation, and transition to steady-state.
Develops bench strength within the assigned team and develops successors.
Designs and develops BI solutions.
Leads and performs product evaluations and proof of concepts for new/emerging technology Business Intelligence/Analytic solutions to advance the maturity of Vallen's Business Intelligence landscape.
Acts as an internal consultant to advocate, mentor, and change agent for newly implemented systems, applications, tools, and technology with special emphasis on Business Intelligence, data management, and data warehouse.
Performs all duties inherent in the role of a Vallen Manager as defined in the Vallen Manager's manual including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.
Fosters the Vallen Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of Vallen's vision and unity of purpose.
Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or other related field required; Master's Degree a plus. 5+ years relevant IT experience including:
5 years of Business Intelligence application delivery experience including managing teams in systems analysis, business analysis, systems architecture, and development.
5 years of experience with major Business Intelligence/Analytic solutions.
5 years of multi-source Data Integration experience (multiple source types), ETL, and near real-time.
Experience with major relational databases. Knowledge of SQL, database administration and tuning/optimization.
Strong understanding of Business Intelligence/Analytic data modeling techniques, use cases, and algorithms.
A minimum of 3 years of experience managing associates is required.
Exposure to the practical application of advanced analytical, predictive, and data science concepts.
PMP certification or equivalent a plus.
5 years of experience in the wholesale, distribution, or retail industries is preferred.
JVM understanding is required. Functional Programming is a plus.
Knowledge in Linux & Windows Servers, containers is a plus.
Knowledge of provisioning cloud-based BI solutions. Infrastructure as Code, FaaS and cloud based Data Warehousing is a plus.

Strong background in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing concepts, applications, tools, and technologies required.
Strong understanding of analytical/statistical concepts with the ability to explain in business-friendly terms.
The ability to design, develop, integrate and implement complex Business Intelligence/Analytic packages and solutions is required.
Strong practical knowledge of traditional and agile SDLC methodologies required.
Proficient in Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions, including Continuous Integration/Deployment.
