AWS Cloud Engineer - Banking EXP - City of London/Initially Remote/WFT options

£90,000 to £100,000 - £120k+ package, plus excellent benefits & bonus/To be based in the City, although initially remote and then there will be Work From Home options

My client is a leading global investment banking company who now seek an experienced and talented AWS Cloud Engineer, ideally with banking environment/technology experience to join a dynamic team within the Infrastructure department to lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions on a large enterprise scale.

  • As the AWS Cloud Engineer you will also work with various technology teams such as Virtualization, Storage, Unix, Windows, Network, Database, security, data science, application architects and development teams, to gather requirements and help create next generation highly available, scalable, and automated cloud-based architectures.
  • A successful AWS Cloud Engineer applicant will be a genuine technology enthusiast with a high degree of self-motivation, eager to learn new skills on daily basis, who can think strategically while working as a member of a fast-paced global team.

Responsibilities for the AWS Cloud Engineer:

  • Full stack Cloud engineer involved in AWS Cloud Infrastructure Services (ie ec2, vpc etc), platform services (ie RDS, Redshift, EMR etc..) and abstracted services (ie S3, IAM, Kinesis, Lambda etc).
  • Design and Develop Cloudformation, Terraform templates for IAAC.
  • Assess cloud services as part of a security framework and provide recommendations for use.
  • Document patterns and best practices for cloud services.
  • Provide consulting for application teams integrating cloud services into their application.
  • Design and develop automation for governing usage of cloud services.
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies.
  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions.
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering organisation.
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork and self-organisation.

Basic Qualifications required for the AWS Cloud Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of Servers, network, storage and databases.
  • Deep knowledge of core AWS services such as IAM, S3, EC2, VPC, RDS, Service Catalog etc..
  • Deep knowledge of orchestration services such as Cloudformation, Terraform.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Application Development or Data platforms.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • At least 5 years of experience with Python or similar programming language.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Linux, Windows server automation and Scripting.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Agile Scrum processes.

Preferred Qualifications for the AWS Cloud Engineer:

  • AWS Certified.
  • Experience with Atlassian tooling Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in fields such as Computer Science, Information Systems, and Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience with application and/or data design, architecture and development.
