IT Support Technician


Salary: Up to £28,000 (dependent on experience)

Our client is a leading manufacturer in its sector with a long and proud history, based in Leicester.

This exciting opportunity has become available to join the existing IT Team, reporting to the Group IT Manager – offering capacity and coverage of first line support requests and projects as they arise.

The ideal candidate should be a driven and capable individual who will be competent at investigating, resolving, and documenting desktop support issues both face to face and remotely. Detailed knowledge of supporting Microsoft environments in a busy environment is crucial. Knowledge of working with Active Directory and network systems and protocols is essential, including experience in supporting and managing Office 365 and Windows Server environments. This is suited to a candidate who has experience within an IT helpdesk, while any experience with ERP would also be advantageous while training on the bespoke aspects of the business and the opportunity to grow and develop with the assistance from the IT Manager.


* Provide 1st line technical support and responding to support requests in a timely and professional manner.

* Liaise with third party suppliers and manage SLAs.

* Ensuring maximum availability of IT systems throughout the organisation through regular maintenance and upgrades including desktops, servers, active directory, Office 365, IP and mobile communications, software and cloud applications, printers, network access and security.

* Install and maintain hardware and software applications, while implementing and assisting with the roll-out of new solutions.

* Evaluate and improve system output and performance, identify user needs, determine infrastructure requirements, and conduct data protection through backups and DR.

* Maintain all IT assets, health and safety and compliance.

* Produce user guides and support documentation, carry out user inductions, training, and onboarding throughout the organisation.

* Assist with the creation and review of IT policies and processes.

Essential skills: -

* Windows Server 2012/2016/2019

* Office 365

* VMware\Hyper V Virtulisation

* Windows 10

* Active Directory and Group Policies

* Strong networking knowledge

* Desktop support / helpdesk environment

* Microsoft Excel


* Cisco Meraki

Desirable skills: -

* Knowledge and experience of supporting ERP Systems, ideally Epicor 10

* CAD applications such as Creo or Solidworks

* Visual Studio\.NET development
