Junior Quantity Surveyor

4 You Residential is a prime residential construction, renovation and architectural company based in London.

We have over 20 years of experience in residential and light commercial refurbishment in London and home counties. We are a highly skilled team of construction managers, architects, builders and craftsmen.

We are looking for a driven and skilled Junior QS to join our team.

Key duties to include:

  • Work with and assist Senior Quantity Surveyor to assist with all surveying requirements
  • Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts
  • Valuing ongoing works
  • Undertaking site surveys and collating detailed, relevant information
  • Keep existing contracts up to date, including making amendments, providing new cost estimates, and maintaining communication with the client
  • Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks to the company
  • Keep detailed records of all documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with client
  • Ensure architects instructions and variations are obtained and properly valued
  • Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, specifications and related documents
  • Identify labour, material and time requirements by studying proposals, specifications and related documents
  • Compute costs by analysing labour, material and time requirements
  • Maintain sub-contractor and suppliers' data base
  • Build and manage relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or similar degree or experience
  • Two years quantity surveying/estimating experience
  • Advanced skills with report writing
  • Committed to meeting deadlines
  • Residential construction experience essential
  • Trainee level surveying experience
  • Experience of reading drawings
  • Good mental arithmetic
  • Strong excel skills
  • Good administration skills
  • Experience of using online systems
  • Client facing experience preferred
  • Driving license and access to own car preferred
  • Place of work: our office in London, Battersea SW11
