This charity have big plans to transform the UK landscape, creating and restoring 100,000ha of wetlands and inspiring 1 million people to take action for wetlands and their wildlife. Could you play a leading role in achieving this mission? If so then come join them at the very start of this exciting journey.

Wetlands are essential to almost all life on the planet, including our own. The Covid pandemic has shown us the importance of nature to our lives and the need for us to build back better. Wetlands can help us do all of this by, among other things, helping to store carbon, protect our communities from flooding, and clean our water.

And the time is now - the concept of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) is gaining increasing traction within government and industry, and with your help our client can put wetland solutions at the very heart of this. Indeed their 100,000ha target itself is based on this - it was recommended by the Natural Capital Committee as a figure that makes economic sense.

They are looking for someone with substantial experience in delivering wetland NbS, preferably for water quality improvement and/or natural flood management purposes, but also with the creative spark and ideas needed to massively scale up their delivery.

Role Outline

You will lead a team responsible for delivering ongoing high-profile multi-stakeholder wetland nature-based solution projects, such as the extremely successful Two Valleys Natural Flood Management Project, as well as be central to the delivery of exciting new projects that the charity are developing in this area, such as the use of wetlands to improve water quality as part of nutrient neutrality schemes.

You will be a trusted source of expertise and knowledge on wetland nature-based solutions and one of the thought leaders within the organisation and beyond - helping to find ways to scale up these solutions to meet both the organisation's ambitions and the UK's needs.

About You

You will be a knowledgeable and technically-minded person with a good depth of knowledge on the design and delivery of wetland NbS. You'll be enthusiastic about what you believe in and have creative ideas for how to fund and deliver sustainable conservation work.

You'll be someone that thrives on collaborating as part of a small but passionate team in an organisation with a strong "can-do" attitude that wants to make a difference and is willing to run with good ideas.

You'll have an excellent track record in successfully delivering major projects and understand the importance of taking a professional approach to managing projects. You'll also be confident communicating and advocating your work to wide range of stakeholders, with great interpersonal skills.

If this sounds like you then our client would love to hear from you. Join them in delivering their vision of a world where healthy wetland nature thrives and enriches lives.

In return for your hard work and dedication you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)

  • Life assurance

  • Free car parking and secure bike storage areas

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Free entry to all centres

Our client is an equal opportunities employer and all applications will be considered solely on merit.
