Big Data Developer - Scala - Investment Banking - London

A global Investment Bank has undertaken a number of initiatives to support business and regulatory projects. The objective of these initiatives is to improve operational processes and bring further efficiency in the day to day running of a number of key business processes.

The bank requires an experienced Scala Developer with a proven track record in a Hadoop environment in banking and/or investment banking. The requirement for a Scala Developer is urgent. So, if successful you will be invited for an interview soon.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop data reconciliation and quality assessment reports in Hadoop.

  • Identify new reference data requirements to fulfil the regulatory and operational requirements.

  • Develop technical specifications for changes.

  • Active participation and support for new data maintenance and automating workflows.

  • Provide support of change management process to deploy changes in production environment

  • Provide post-implementation support (L3) for all the changes deployed in production.

  • Testing support in various environments

  • Regular project status reports to senior project stakeholders

Qualifications:

Ideally, an MSc in software engineering or related field and additional qualification in Finance is desirable, FRM, CFA is desirable. However, hands-on Scala experience in Banking is the most important.

Skills:

  • 5-10 years experience in application development using extensively Scala, Java, SQL, HTML, JavaScript, AngularJS, Git, Hadoop data analytics platform.

  • Exsposure to Scala in a Hadoop environment.
  • Exposure to the finance domain and experience of projects at an Investment bank is highly desirable.

  • Experience enhancing data models with new reference data entities is desirable.

  • Strong data sourcing skills of reference data from internal systems/external vendors.

  • Comfortable working with large volumes of data (XML/JSON).

  • Proactive and analytical to evaluate and solve problems independently.

  • Able to work under pressure with the team and deliver results in a timely manner.
