Our client is an established and growing Chartered Certified Accountancy practice based in Newmarket, Suffolk, historically working in the Equine and Agricultural community but now supporting an exciting diverse base of SME businesses.
About the role
This is an exciting career development opportunity.
The ideal applicant will be interested in helping develop the client into a digital practice, with all the flexibility this brings, whilst supporting other team members as needed, and managing a client portfolio in all aspects of accountancy work.
Ideally an applicant will have previous exposure of all (or most) of the responsibilities listed. Where experience is lacking the client needs to seek someone keen and quick to learn, and who is comfortable in embracing ongoing change and improvement.
Training and ongoing support will be provided to the candidate.
This is a hands-on role and responsibilities include:
Managing a portfolio of SME clients from a wide range of sectors keeping them proactively informed in all areas of their accounts
Preparation and review of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, personal tax returns, Vat returns, management accounts and adhoc reporting where required to meet client needs
General software and bookkeeping knowledge in order to support clients with their day-to-day practical accounting needs
Preparation and review of Charity accounts and ability to conduct independent examinations
Supervise and mentoring of the support team alongside the other senior management
Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual client and statutory deadlines
Establish positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
Key Skills & Requirements
At least 3 years post qualification experience
Excellent working knowledge and hands-on use of IRIS suite and Xero / Xero Practice Manager.
Excellent Excel and word skills.
Self-starter, highly motivated and driven to succeed with an eye for detail and deadlines.
Experience of agriculture and equine accounting would be an advantage
Qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent
Salary: £40- £45k Pension 6.25% Holiday 25 days
