Embedded Software Engineer - Medical Devices
Nottingham

A startup organisation working within the Medical Devices sector are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for the specification, design, development, testing and design management of the embedded software that runs on the company's laparoscopic visualisation platform. You will report into the Head of R&D and work alongside management and an existing software engineer to help deliver on projects
Key Responsibilities:

Working within a small team to develop software specifications and test protocols.
Delivering high-quality production-ready code, according to specifications.
Delivering high-quality design documentation according to medical regulations.
Performing tests, code reviews, and other quality assurance tasks.
Fast prototyping in support of proof-of-principle activities.
Debugging and fixing issues found from field testing and deployments.
Contributing to role-specific R&D planning.
Working with management on managing and developing intellectual property.
Working with corporate partners, as determined by the executive management.
Essential Requirements:

Hold a first or upper second class degree in a relevant subject such as software engineering or computer science.
Excellent knowledge of C++ development, under both Windows and Linux.
Experience of working under IEC 62304, including testing and verification activities.
Desirable Skills & Abilities

Experience with GTK, OpenGL and CMake.
Experience writing multi-threaded applications.
Experience of developing real-time computer vision applications, preferably with CUDA.
Experience of developing graphical user interfaces and, ideally, IEC 62366.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, particularly when communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
Ability to self-motivate when working independently; prioritise tasks and work effectively to manage and meet deadlines.
Willingness to provide constructive input into R&D strategy & planning meetings.
Ability to learn new skills quickly and work with minimum supervision.
Excellent report writing skills, and experience of MS Office.
A basic knowledge of clinical and/or biomedical engineering.
