I am currently recruiting for a Finance Director on a part time basis for a key not-for-profit client in the central Birmingham area. The role entails managing and overseeing all financial aspects of the organisation ensuring robust controls and governance arrangements are in place. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to provide financial leadership.

Role Details Finance Director:

Working Hours: This is a part time role with flexibility for 2 days per week or more

Salary: Between £45,000 and £55,000 pro rata depending on experience

Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA

Location: Birmingham

Sector Experience: Charity or Not-For-Profit would be preferential but is not essential

Candidate Level: Candidates looking to take a step up in career to FD will also be considered

Responsibilities for the Finance Director

Ensure appropriate financial probity, controls and governance arrangements are in place
Undertake financial reporting including monthly management accounts so Directors and Trustees understand the financial health of the organisation
To support the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and the Chair of resources (finance) sub-committee in providing assurance to the trustees in relation to financial strategy, performance and financial sustainability
Work closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team
Assist the Chief Executive & Senior Leadership Team to provide the robust financial information to inform and improve operational management and decision making
Identify efficiencies to ensure the lean operation of the organisation
Maintain a positive and healthy cash position
Handle personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support direct reports in their development and training
Undertake such other duties and training as may be reasonably required and which are commensurate with the nature and grading of the post

Person Specification Finance Director

The ideal candidate will need to be qualified and experienced accountant with one of the following professional accountancy bodies (CCAB, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA)
Experience in working with a Board of Trustees or similar
Facilitating growth and development
Excellent understanding and working knowledge of IT systems including 1 or more computerised accounts packages
A willingness to undertake training as necessary
Full conversant with accounting procedures legislation including Charity and Company statutory reporting requirements
Well-developed financial, commercial and business acumen
Be mobile and work irregular hours when work requires it
Ability to cope with competing demands and priorities tasks
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills which ensure clear and effective communication
