Job Title: Senior/Principal Ornithology Consultant

Location: UK wide

Salary: 45,000 - 50,00 doe.

A large multi-disciplinary consultancy are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Ornithologist to join a well-established Ecology Team at Principal level. The Marine Wildlife & Ornithology Team is a global leader in the offshore survey of seabirds, marine mammals and other wildlife, and assessing the potential impacts on seabirds, especially in the context of marine renewable energy developments.

Our team also lead on multiple coastal, freshwater and terrestrial ornithology projects for proposed developments as well as for research, monitoring and conservation projects

Role & Company:

This role will principally focus on ornithology services for infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, coastal developments, road, forestry and marine developments. This is a client facing role and will entail a degree of responsibility growing the ornithological team, managing more junior team members' technical work and outputs and work with senior staff to generate new client relationships and work streams.

Our Ecology team provides ecological solutions for all types of development, whether terrestrial, aquatic, coastal or marine. From resolving bat issues in individual homes to delivering all ecological surveys for large-scale complex commercial developments including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP), we undertake all aspects of ecological consultancy, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

As a Principal Ornithologist, candidates should have a strong ecology orientated academic background and have established experience as an ornithology consultant. On top of strong technical skills, you'll be experienced in consultation with external partners have experience in large scale infrastructure schemes including EIAs.

Strong leadership, project management and financial planning qualities at an ecology consultancy are essential for this role. You'll have excellent communication skills and have a proven track record of nurturing existing client relationships as well as developing business through building new connections and winning infrastructure work.
