Role: Lead Data engineer

Location: Geel area, Belgium - currently remote in the future 2 days per week onsite
Start date: As soon as possible
Duration: 30/11/2021 + extensions for 6 months. Total duration 2-3 years
Interview process: 2 video interviews
Onboarding: 1-2 weeks
Language onsite: English

Our client in Belgium is working on a digital program where they are innovating their supply chain process. In their active drive to innovate and disrupt the digital space, an opportunity has arisen for a hands-on experienced Data Engineer to join the team. In this role you will be responsible for leading the technical decisions of the team, communicating these decisions and their trade-offs clearly to different stakeholders and implement them in practice.

Must have skills:

  • You have strong communication skills and can explain complicated solutions to every level

  • You have hands on experience with production workloads in the cloud (this can be Azure, AWS, Google Cloud etc as the tools you will be working with are cloud agnostic)

  • Production Pipelines (for example PySpark) don't hold any mysteries to you

  • You are experienced with big data solutions in production as well as with different data analytics architectures and their tradeoff

Do you have a problem solving mindset and are you eager to learn? Are you self-managed and can you prioritise different workloads and can you think in terms of concepts and solutions? Do you have extensive hands-on experience with creating and maintaining production pipelines and can you article the pros and cons between different architectural decisions?
