Job purpose

The Network & Shared Operations organization will focus on providing the following services:

  • Innovation, Strategy, Architecture, High Level design and first deployments of Projects Pulse Secure, UIM, DDS, C4C, Deepmind etc.

As part of this organisation, this role is expected to:

  • Manage assigned projects from approval through design, development, integration, test, deployment and into operations within large and complex programs

  • Track and report on projects/programs, including project financials and resourcing, weekly status reporting, key stakeholder communication/management support, creating and presenting management presentations

Key Accountabilities

Project Management

  • Project manage one or more projects within the assigned domain

  • Manage assigned projects from approval through design, development, integration, test, deployment and into operations in countries or assigned work-streams within large and complex programs; the role played in each project may vary, ranging from full project life cycle management to delivering specific work streams into larger projects and will include technical related delivery management (co-ordination of development, integration and test activities)

Delivery Management (for one or more large projects)

  • Act as delivery manager for assigned projects within the assigned domain(s)

    • Project management, tracking and reporting

    • Vendor Management - creates and manages straightforward commercials eg vendor statements of work, and manages delivery of work packages;

    • Resource Management

  • Operate and comply with our client's governance processes

  • Completion of deliverables required for each "Gate Approval"

  • Manage Change requests - including impact on time, budget, and quality

  • Timely updates of status, changes and other data on to the systems used for reporting and tracking

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders within project domain

  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including: responsible for the technical areas in the relevant domain; responsible for product delivery teams or other technical areas broadly in the company; Senior Management; Vendors, on an operational level

Knowledge & Experience

Preferred education/qualifications:

  • Preferred certification from a recognised professional body eg APM, PMI, IPMA
Knowledge & Experience:

  • Refer to the Role/Experience table added to this document. It is likely that successful candidates for this role will have 5+ years of experience in delivery of technical products in the telecommunications, cable, and/or media industries

  • Experience of the entire project life cycle (requirements, design, development, integration, test, deployment and into operations in countries)

  • A deep understanding and first-hand experience of traditional waterfall and agile project management methodologies used in the industry eg PRINCE2, Scrum

  • Domain skills: this role requires knowledge of the software development, operating models, technical architectures, and solution components used in the major markets of the telco/media/cable industry globally, with special focus on Network/Network Security related projects for delivery & automation of operations.

  • Delivery Management skills. Comprehensive and strong skills in project and program management.

  • Ability to keep teams focused on delivery outcomes in order to meet deadlines with quality

  • Strong enough commercial skills and experience to be able to develop and challenge costs and benefits in business cases

  • Self-motivated and proactive in the working environment

  • Demonstrates the gravitas and courage needed to build relationships and convey authority in order to resolve conflicts and maintain direction

  • Resource management, financial management, and budget management skills

  • Good problem solving skills and be able to think quickly and adept about how to address problems as they come up and to learn from the issues so that the same problem do not arise again.

  • Can adapt communication & influencing style to different situations, audiences and cultures.

  • Ability to keep teams focused on delivery outcomes in order to meet deadlines with quality

  • At ease and effective in operating in an international working environment

  • Fluent English speaker, ideally with other European languages

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are needed, as well as experience in communicating, persuading, and influencing at senior stakeholder level
