This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced team supervisor to lead a team of Wetland Operatives delivering a programme of landscape and habitat improvements designed by our client for the Brightwater Partnership.

Salary: Circa £23,000 per annum (negotiable dependent on experience)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Fixed Term for 12 months (potential for extension)
Location: Darlington & Newton Aycliife
Brightwater is led by Durham Wildlife Trust and is a Landscape Partnership Scheme centred on the catchment of the River Skerne in southern County Durham and Darlington, an area of approximately 200 km2 that extends from the Durham Magnesian Limestone Plateau in the north to the Tees Lowlands in the south. Landscape Partnerships are a funding programme operated by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (TNLHF), one of the National Lottery distribution bodies that give out grants to good causes. TNLHF provides grants to support projects that promote understanding, valuing and sharing of heritage to bring people together, inspire pride in communities and boost investment in local economies.

About the role
They are seeking a Supervisor who will be responsible for managing a team of 4 Trainee Operatives implementing a range of countryside management (Woodland & Wetland), horticulture, grounds maintenance, and landscape improvement tasks. The work will take place within the Brightwater Landscape Partnership area and at other identified sites. The supervisor will be responsible for supporting the trainees to work to achieve agreed qualifications. The post holder will be managing and delivering practical tasks and, as such, will be required to work outside in all conditions ensuring safety at all times.
A bit about you
- Proven experience of good quality countryside management, woodland, wetland & horticultural skills
- Ability to run a project from start to completion.
- Understanding of the principles of working with vulnerable people and Safeguarding procedures.
- The ability to lead and drive a small team.
- Experience of dealing with external partners, contractors and suppliers.
