For one of our clients in the banking industry we are currently looking for a IBM MQ Engineer and Support Specialist

Start date: August 2021 (at the latest)
Duration: 12 months
Location: Zurich (Currently remote from within Switzerland)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical change projects which may range from small scale to major environment migrations
  • Consult with clients on onboarding requests
  • Administer the environments, including software upgrades, MQ changes & Broker deployments
  • Provide support to client requests and issues
  • Maintain platform availability through both proactive and reactive actions
  • Improve our operating processes by suggesting change, automating or improving documentation

Essential skills

  • Excellent knowledge on I BM WebSphere MQ, IBM Integration Bus (IIB) and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE)
  • Linux (Red Hat) - Understanding of administration concepts (storage, permissioning, High Availability); (Strong Linux skills. We do not administer our Linux environments, but are often involved in issues around performance, storage and Kernel settings)
  • Diagnosis, performance, Scripting in Bash/Perl/Python - 5+ years of experience
  • 10 years of relevant technical experience in Middleware messaging development and operations in large and complex global enterprises, ideally within International Financial/Banking environments
  • Ability to gather, discuss, negotiate and refine technical user requirements, effectively collaborating with application developers, testers, project and program manager, scrum masters, support and infrastructure teams, be a trusted partner and service provider within the global team of stakeholders
  • Ability to provide consultations in all phases of development, integration and design.
  • Critical thinking, decision-making, strong analytical and good inter-personal skills.
  • Good organizational and problem solving abilities.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage highly critical production incidents

Desired skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/4 year Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of and experience with Agile DevOps concepts, tools, and architectures in building a Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) Pipeline (preferably TeamCity, Jenkins, Maven, Git)
  • Good awareness of global regulations relevant to Financial industry
  • Hands on experience with APIs and CMDBs
  • Practical experience with automation, orchestration and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of monitoring and diagnostics tools like Splunk, Geneos, Grafana
  • Programming experience (Java, C++/.NET, other)
