Our research and development labs, offices, and manufacturing space are located in Newbury Park, near the Amgen campus.
We are looking for scientists to work on our cargo development team. Members of this team will be responsible for conceiving, screening, and confirming in vitro efficacy of cargos for the entire range of products in the Capsida gene therapy pipeline. Successful candidates will have experience with one or more of the following: regulatory element library construction and screening, shRNA design, cell line development and screening, iPSC disease models, high-throughput screening, NGS and single-cell omics. This position will require the applicant to work with multiple collaborators to design and execute projects, as well as directly manage research associates. Laboratory activities are expected to constitute approximately 80% of the time.
Some team members will be responsible for the design and screening of libraries to identify and modify cargo constructs through early research to the selection of development candidates. Other team members will be responsible for the design and execution of iPSC-based assays leading to the selection of development candidates.
All team members will be responsible for the following:
Collaborations both within the cargo team for measuring efficacy of constructs, as well as with other teams at Capsida, including the high-throughput sequencing core, AAV production, and capsid engineering.
Keeping up to date with novel tools for gene expression, library construction, cell line development, and screening.
Present findings to interdisciplinary scientific teams to seek input on key studies and propose data-driven decisions.
Develop a small scientific team, coordinate their efforts, and see to their own scientific and professional improvement along with your own
PhD in molecular or cell biology, or a related scientific discipline.
Master's degree in molecular or cell biology, or a related scientific discipline with 4 or more years of post-doctorate or industry experience.
Technical experience with DNA assembly methods, library design, and assay development - or - Technical experience with biochemistry/molecular biology analysis in primary neuronal cell culture or iPSC-derived neuronal cell culture.
Experience with NGS sample preparation and related data analysis.
Experience with high-throughput DNA screens.
Demonstrated capability of generating data-driven hypotheses and designing/developing properly controlled studies/assays for hypothesis testing.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Collaborative mindset and a willingness to work with and provide mentorship to junior RAs.
Thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced research environment.
Experience with viral delivered gene therapy constructs.
Experience with cell culture-based screens.
Experience with single cell assay platforms, such as ddPCR, 10x or Mission bio.
Experience with gene expression modulation.
