Langham recruitment are proud to be recruiting for a high-profile genomics institute / life sciences organisation supporting science and governments globally in tackling a range of diseases including Covid-19.
As a Principal Software Developer you will be responsible for designing and developing the codebase for a novel genome annotation tool in collaboration with project partners overseas. The project attempts to combine the functionalities of two world-renowned genome annotation tools.
Design and develop the codebase for a novel genome annotation tool in collaboration with project partners overseas. Manage the inputs from project partners to ensure the project remains on-track
Maintain the codebase of the existing genome annotation tool in terms of necessary bug fixes and software upgrades.
Merging the functionality of two widespread analysis tools
Develop effective relationships with the scientific users and gain a sound understanding of their needs to ensure that the software solutions meet their requirements
Take part in the day-to-day tasks in an informatics support team, consisting of software development, DevOps activities and the provision of direct technical support to scientific usersRequirements:
MSc in a Computer Science discipline or equivalent working experience
Java or JVM languages experience
Demonstrable experience of working with relational database systems
Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux
Evidence of successful delivery in large or complex software projectsDesirables:
Familiarity with graph databases
Experience in supporting cluster- and cloud-based computing platforms
Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Singularity, or Kubernetes
