Data Scientist / Emissions Specialist for Simulation Modelling Project

* Long term contract opportunity, with an immediate start

* Fully remote from anywhere in the world (but be partially available during European working hours)

* Rate is negotiable and competitive for the right person, based on skills/experience.

We are building a small agile team to work on an exciting new simulation environment and require a Data Scientist with experience of CO2 Emissions modelling to assist with the development of a complex simulation model.

Responsibilities:

* Take ownership of the models that will drive the simulation engine

* Work with the wider engineering team to develop an architecture to utilise the models

* Work with the wider engineering team to deploy these models in production

* Provide expert guidance on the mathematical modelling choices and constraints

Key Skills/Experience:

* Commercial experience developing real-world models in various domains (bio engineering, hydrology, environmental/carbon, health/genetics or fluid dynamics domains will be a plus)

* Specific experience in the CO2 emissions sector, gained with a vehicle manufacturer, transport operator, city/urban planning or similar

* Programming: Python with Nympy and Pandas

* Experience of working with geospatial/mapping technologies (nice to have)

* Academic achievement in Operational Research and Optimisation specialisations

Profile of an ideal candidate:

* A Data Science expert with strong expertise in building Machine Learning models

* Ability to generate insights from available data

* Modelling probability distributions from historical data

* Be a self-starter and thrive on working independently

* Used to working in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

* Have an open and creative outlook on working practices, to generate new ideas to the team

* Get a kick from significantly contributing as part of a larger team

* Have fluent English language skills

* Knowledge of Spanish language will be a plus

* Be inspired by working with a culturally diverse team, located internationally

* The ability to communicate exceptionally via videoconferencing is essential, to deliver meetings, presentations and technical reviews.
