IT Director - Financial Services (Software)
We are currently looking to resource the skills of an experienced IT Director (Software) to work for this industry leading European Financial Services business. Initially this is a 12 month FTC (expected to continue for at least another 12 months thereafter) and paying up-to £90,000 per annum + benefits + bonus package. Whilst this business is based in Reigate, it is expected to be mainly remote post-COVID but must be able to get to the office if or when required.
Reporting directly into the UK Managing Director, the role of the IT Director is to execute the UK entities of the European IT Roadmap, building competency and skill levels throughout core IT functions (predominately Software Development) and helping to execute the largest piece of transformation that the business has ever gone through.
The role holder will work closely with internal stakeholders and Group to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are enabled and supported by all local departments and to drive performance throughout.
Responsibility for UK IT development strategies in line with Group requirements which include creation and prioritisation of projects, project initiation documents, development, user acceptance testing and roll out into the live environment.
Responsible for UK ICT strategy which includes all ICT and IS based solutions and overall responsibility of the local Software Development (x7) and Service Management (x3) Teams.
Overall responsibility at a local level for ensuring business continuity is regularly stress tested (in conjunction with Group) to ensure the continued performance of the local entities regulated activities in the event of an emergency/failure of core systems.
Drives performance improvement and employee satisfaction to achieve and exceed business goals and KPI's.
Provide leadership across all areas of responsibility inspiring people to engage and deliver key results.
Proactively identifies opportunities for productivity improvement.
Facilitates an organisation of continuous process improvement.
Directs and supports the consistent implementation of local and Group initiatives.
Facilitation of onboarding new clients which includes involvement in due diligence, account data loading, strategies etc.
Identify, assess and respond to regulatory risks and developments.
Ensuring departments under direct control meet their obligations in relation to operational corporate governance.
Actively promote the corporate and employee culture through engagement and team work.
Maintain effective and appropriate communication with all employees throughout the local and Group business.
Line/performance management of direct reports ensuring that the desired standards of consistency, fairness and honesty are adhered to in all affairs.
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise direct reports and team members (x11), to influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work, in the customer's interests.
Develop best practices and tools to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, legislation and law.
Ensure that information is properly protected; ensuring the risk of exposure to cyber-security events and information theft is minimised.
Establish, implement and maintain adequate policies and procedures designed to detect any risk of failure by the firm to comply with its obligations under the regulatory system, as well as associated risks, and put in place adequate measures and procedures designed to minimise such risks and to enable the appropriate regulator to exercise its powers effectively under the regulatory system.
Regular assessment of the adequacy of systems and controls (including business continuity) to ensure that they continue to comply with SYSC.
Oversee development and training of direct reports, setting targets and KPI's to ensure consistency within the department.
Effective internal reporting and communication of information to all relevant levels of management, as well as effective information flows with any third parties involved, to improve efficiency within the department.
Liaise closely with the Compliance Director to keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and communicate these to the team for immediate adherence.
Liaise with HR and Learning & Development to ensure recruitment, selection and development of the team is relevant, accurate and subject to requirements.
Conduct an annual review of suppliers to analyse cost and product quality and recommend alterations to agreements if necessary.
Has the assigned responsibility and authority of implementation and management of the ISMS 27001, including performance feedback to Senior Management.
- Extensive experience in delivering innovation and cost savings in a professional services or financial environment.
- A successful track record of delivering complex projects and/or programmes, utilising appropriate techniques and tools to ensure and measure success.
- A track record of making complex business decisions with authority, even in times of ambiguity, considering the potential long-term risks and implications.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high performing teams of multi-skilled professionals including recruitment, talent development and performance management.
- Ability to engage with the Company's Executive Management, Investors, Shareholders and other Board members, including Senior Management and Directors.
- Superior presentation, research analytical skills, plus demonstrated skills to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Act with honesty, integrity and independence of mind to effectively assess and challenge the decisions of the main Board where necessary and to effectively oversee and monitor management decision-making.
