Here at S & L Personnel we work with numerous companies based around the Leicester area, covering requirements for warehouse staff, forklift drivers, admin staff and drivers.
We are currently looking for motivated Quality Control technician to be able to offer permanent work with one of our fast paced food processing clients in Leicester.
This position is perfect for a graduate looking for their 1st step in the world of work or someone who has done a similar position before and looking to start a new journey with a successful company.
Duties will include:
The Quality Control Technician will conduct the following primary requirements as deemed by the company:
Quality Control Checks – The Quality Control Technician shall conduct various quality checks on all products packed at Universal Flexible Packaging Limited. The checks will include:
HACCP Metal Detection (X-Ray from September 2021)
LOT Coding & BBD / BBD
Labelling Control Checks (Including Ingredients & Nutritional Data)
Legislative Weight Checks (‘Three Packer’s Rules)
Gas Flushing (N2) Checks
Product Mixing Ratios
Allergen Management – The Quality Control Technician will help the Production Team maintain a high level of allergen management.
Manufacture of Popcorn – The Quality Control Technician would be required to assess the quality assurance of manufactured Popcorn at our Lunsford Road site. Aspects of colour, texture, odour, and visual popping will need to be monitored on an hourly basis. Quality documentation shall be completed for auditing purposes.
Seasoning Processes – The Quality Control Technician shall monitor the quality assurance of Seasoning production at sites which shall involve aspects of colour, texture, odour, and visual quality inspection. Quality documentation shall be completed for auditing purposes.
GMP Auditing – The Quality Control Technician will be required to assist the Quality Team in conducting GMP monthly audits. This could be at either packaging sites
Third-party Audits – The Quality Control Technician shall assist the Quality Manager and the Quality Team in delivering Quality Control and Quality Assurance data during external body audits. This may also include showing the auditor the processes followed by a Quality Control Technician on an hourly basis.
Complaints – The Quality Control Technician will be required to assist the Technical Services Team during the investigation of complaint issues raised by our clients or the consumer.
Teamwork – All Quality Control Technicians will be required to have a close and dedicated teamwork ethic within the Quality Team and the Production Team to maximise business performance and encourage continuous improvement.
Health, Safety & Environment – The Quality Control Technician shall promote Health & Safety at both packaging sites and to encourage the reporting of ‘Near Miss’ or accidents that may occur.
Training – The Quality Control Technician shall provide Quality related support to all Production and Warehouse staff where required with encouragement from the Quality Manager(s).
Product Authenticity & Integrity – The Quality Control Technician shall promote and maintain all client product authenticities in relations to claims such as:
Documentation & Archiving – The Quality Control Technician shall ensure the correct documentation is completed for each product production run and to maintain full document control at all times.
Sampling – The Quality Control Technician may be required to obtain samples for shelf life (Popcorn, Seasoning), organoleptic purposes or for laboratory analysis.
Experience of quality control or quality assurance
Educated to ‘A’ level in scientific discipline
Knowledge or experience in auditing practices such as BRCGS
Good English and mathematics skills
Knowledge of HACCP and Allergen Management.
Ability to operate Microsoft desktop programs such Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook to an intermediate level.
Ability to speak Guajarati would be an advantage, nut not essential.
Full training for the role would be offered by a Quality Manager.
Pay Rate - £9.50 per hour
Hours – Monday to Friday – 7am to 6pm (10 hours paid work, 1 hour unpaid break per day)
The successful candidate would be required to provide holiday/sickness cover, on a couple of occasions throughout the year on late shifts (6pm – 5am)
The successful candidate may need to carry out their duties on our second site, again to provide holiday/sickness cover. This site is a approx. 2 miles from site.
