Graduate Civil Engineer

We are seeking to recruit Graduate Civil Engineers to support our growing workload in 2021.
As a small, award-winning consultancy we provide our graduates with excellent opportunities to get involved in all aspects of our design work and to work on some of the most prestigious development projects in the south west.
You would be working on the planning and design of transport, highways, drainage, and utilities solutions for a range of residential, retail, industrial and commercial developments. All graduates are encouraged and assisted to progress their training towards ICE professional qualifications through our ICE approved Training Scheme, with internal and external training opportunities being provided.
The varied role will include assisting in the production of Transport Assessments and Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments and Utility Strategies to support planning applications. You will also produce infrastructure designs for technical approval and construction. You can expect to be working on a number of projects at any given time and you will report to, and be mentored by, one of our management team, all of whom are Chartered Civil Engineers.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain a wide range of experience at the start of a career in civil engineering consultancy.

This has involved experiencing a variety of different disciplines through the graduate rotation scheme. "AWP's graduate training programme provides the opportunity to gain experience across the entire design process from the conceptual pre-planning stage to final design. The programme consists of three 'rotations' across all teams; two planning teams of transport planning and flood risk & drainage and a detailed infrastructure design team. Not only does the scheme give graduates the opportunity to gain experience across the entire design process, it also allows you to work alongside different people throughout the office. Completing the training programme allows you to gain a good understanding of all areas of design that the company offers. You will currently be in the final year of your BEng or MEng Civil Engineering degree and will be expecting to graduate with a good (2:1 or above) degree. You will have good written and spoken communication skills. However, what we are really looking for is someone who is enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and be able to work as part of a team. AutoCAD experience would be preferred, and full training will be given.
