This is currently a remotely based role with the requirement to travel to Bridgwater office when required probably once every couple of weeks.
Our client are one of Britain's fastest growing multi-channel retailers of DIY products and building supplies. Based in Bridgwater, Somerset right next to the M5 junction and commutable from Bristol or Exeter they are growing and need an additional skilled and enthusiastic IT Support Engineer to join their expanding Team.
Ideally we are looking for someone either with deep experience in a Google Workspaces environment (deploying, migrating and application support) or that can provide extensive technical direction (including driving forward change management) to an established team .
Supporting various vendor OS including Google Chrome OS, Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS. Google G Suite and MS Office 365. Linux/Unix.
Salary is negotiable Dependent on the level of your experience to £28,000 plus Benefits
Typically you will support the delivery of hardware, software and IT solutions across a wide user base including offices, Distribution Centres and retail environments. You will be responsible for managing IT suppliers efforts to maintain and restore services. This is a varied role - no two days will be the same. Daily tasks will include elements of design, configuration, deployment, servicing, patching, fault diagnosis and repair of a variety of IT equipment.
Problem solving. You'll diagnose and resolve issues with software, hardware and IT systems. Whether internal or externally supplied, you'll find and fix things for end users.
Analysis. Performing root-cause investigations for problems, identifying solutions and working on the implementation of any resolution to increase overall efficiency.
Escalation. You'll be next in line for 1st and 2nd line support as and when needed. Your team will appreciate your knowledge and insight.
Relationship building. Develop positive working rapport with 3rd party suppliers on new and existing projects.
Expertise. Act as a subject matter expert for selected services, software or hardware.
Customer focused. You'll be on hand to assist users with IT related incidents, problems and requests and you will strive to maintain an excellent level of customer service ensuring that all users and customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
Experience.
You'll have previous experience in an IT Support role and technically you'll know about Google and Microsoft consumer and business productivity tools ie Google G Suite and MS Office 365 .. You'll be confident in supporting and selecting computer hardware, various vendor OS including Google Chrome OS, Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS and Linux desktop.
Some understanding of computer networking, including LAN and WLAN. Any Linux Desktop or Unix is particularly useful
Ideally some knowledge of ITIL processes .
Excellent communication skills with both your colleagues and external suppliers
Customer focus and relationship Building. You can proactively identify new or important professional working relationships and you work to develop these relationships over time.
Desirable Skills and Experience: (nice to have)
Full UK driving license
Linux/Unix practical experience
Previous experience in a field service role.
Commutable from Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Taunton and Exeter especially as this is mainly work from home/remote.
