Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for a Software Engineer to work within the Process Control & Automation department for TATA Steel in Llanwern. It is a permanent role paying between £30,000 and £40,000 per annum on a day shift.
About the role
As a Specialist Engineer, you will report directly to the Area Engineering Manager, ensuring that we maintain and develop systems and software within the Process Control Central Systems Team.
Ensure that all tasks are completed to plan, quality and cost.
Ensure that all work is monitored and reported effectively to Section Engineer whilst driving continuous improvement through auditing of systems.
Ensure that all systems, procedures and documentation are kept up to date on the correct internal computer systems.
Carry out investigations, including failure identification and root cause investigations, prepares reports, to support both the resolution of problems and engineering improvements.
Work as part of a team and ensure use of the departmental Quality system effectively and that all feedback is used for continuous improvement.
Preferably be educated to Degree level, with membership of a Professional Institution (BCS, IET, IMechE)
Ideally chartered or actively working towards chartered status
A sound knowledge of process control and automation in heavy plant applications, manufacturing IT standards and practices.
Good knowledge of Microsoft.Net development and in particular C#/ASP.Net and Microsoft SQL server/Oracle is required.
Helpful to have a basic understanding of SCADA, PLC and network knowledge
Good interpersonal and communication skills
A proven record of writing software and problem solving experience is essential
