DevOps Engineer, Lean Library (£55,000 - £65,000)
Lean Library are hiring for a Dev Ops/SRE Engineer to build the next generation of academic library services.
Lean Library, a SAGE Publishing company, was founded by librarians for librarians. Our mission is to help redefine, enable and amplify the power of the academic library in order to advance student learning and researcher impact.
Our core solution is a browser extension which streamlines access to academic resources and content at the point of need. Over 100 libraries use this solution from universities all over the world including Harvard, NTU and Cambridge. Over the next few years, we aim to pioneer a new approach to library services, bringing the library directly into patron's workflows to accelerate learning and research.

The Role:
- Influencing technology choices and best practices
- Involvement in growing and managing future team
- Working within a cross-functional team of developers, product owners, UX/UI designer
- Remote or office (UK/Netherlands) or mixed
Skills and experience required:
- AWS or Azure commercial experience
- Kubernetes
- Docker
- APM (setting up, monitoring & alerting)
- Configuration management & orchestration
- Identifying use cases for Serverless and other cloud native services.
- Experience in scaling up solutions
- Experience in creating Build pipelines (CI/CD)
- Linux administration
- Understanding of web technologies (HTTP, CORS, Rest)
- Understanding of security best practices
- Git version control - know how to merge, rebase, fix conflicts etc
- Ability to convey an idea, explain a problem, and discuss solutions
- 3+ years commercial development experience
- Worked within a development team with code reviews
This role will report into Andy Hails, Head of Technology, Lean Library.
