Responsibilities:
- Survey and assess telecommunication equipment and services (Internet, phone, cable TV, and video conferencing) currently in use and coordinate changes to best fit agency needs and budgets.
- Determine and deploy telecommunication equipment and services for new locations and upgrades.
- Coordinate changes of telecommunication equipment and services for program or department moves.
- Order, prepare, and deploy new and replacement telecommunications equipment.
- Coordinate cancellation and disposal for services and equipment no longer needed.
- Coordinate moves, additions, and changes using project management processes and tools.
- Serve as a member of project teams implementing changes and new projects.
- Coordinate with colleagues in the IT Operations team to repair damaged or interrupted telecommunications equipment or services.
- Assess new and renewing telecommunication contracts and manage them through the contract review process.
- Contribute to the assessment and planning of telecommunications budgets for the entire agency.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Support the processing of regular payments for telecommunications equipment and services.
- Coordinate business continuity for telecommunication equipment and services in the areas of security, risk assessment, disaster recovery, and emergency operations.
- Document and update procedures and records for the above systems and relationships.
- Assess areas for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Degree or certificate required, with focus in telecommunications, business, finance, accounting, or computer science preferred.
- Demonstrated technical experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications (Internet, voice, and video conferencing) equipment and systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading the assessment, design, and implementation of telecommunications solutions which fit organizational needs.
- Demonstrated accounting, administrative or business office experience with analysing costs and budgets.
- Demonstrated customer service and vendor management experience.
- Strong computer skills with solid experience in Microsoft OS and Excel.
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects such as boxes of telephone equipment.
- Strong orientation to details with good problem-solving, analysis, and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish working relationships with colleagues and vendors and ability to negotiate and resolve differences.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, to effectively handle various duties simultaneously, to work well under pressure, and to escalate appropriately.
- Ability to work independently while staying in communication with the team, responding to requests, and providing status updates.
- Strong initiative and ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sensitivity to the needs of adults and children with mental illness, substance abuse, and/or developmental disabilities and those of their families.
- Commitment to improving the quality of services available to people with disabilities.
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects such as boxes of telephone equipment.
