Zaizi is looking for a user researcher to work in a delivery-focused, agile environment, defining and conducting research to understand user motivations, context and behaviour, processes and services. around end-to-end user journeys and services.

At Zaizi a user researcher is usually Embedded in a multidisciplinary team and responsible for planning and carrying out user research activities. In the multidisciplinary team you will work closely with analysts, designers, developers and testers to ensure their research outcomes are understood and inform continuing research activities.

Role Objectives:

  • Work both independently and as part of a wider UX team
  • Use a variety of user research methods to gain a deep understanding of users and their needs
  • Communicate and evangelise user needs to the team and wider audience
  • Work with team members to translate research findings into user stories and personas

As a user researcher we'd expect you to define and conduct research in order to find opportunities for innovation in, and enhancement of, systems, products and services. You will collect and analyse data related to people's behaviours, needs, and opinions.

You will support the synthesis of findings and the creation of insights, reports and presentations to inform decision making and drive actions. You will also contribute to the selection of user research approaches for projects and initiatives and planning user research activities.

  • The ability to perform analysis and synthesise outputs from raw research
  • The ability to plan research and define protocols
  • Communicating information to stakeholders and your team
  • Being able to use a variety of research methods to meet the goals of the client and team
  • The ability to derive strategic insights from research
  • Being able to work in an agile and flexible way within an agile project
  • Leadership and guidance to others, including team members and other stakeholders
  • Facilitating workshops where necessary
  • The ability to produce personas and pen-portraits as the project requires

Depending on your background you will be familiar with research methods such as qualitative usability testing, card-sorting, user interviews, diary studies, observational research, surveys and questionnaires. You will be able to help others understand the theory of a particular research approach, and (where necessary) produce research plans that achieve a compromise in the best way for the intended outcome.

This is more than a project-facing role, and there will be opportunity for contributing to the development of organisational methods and standards for user research within Zaizi.

SC Clearance:

Zaizi works with UK Central Government departments on a range of projects. To be able to work on our customer projects, employees must be Security Cleared to a standard acceptable to our Government customers. Due to this restriction we can currently only recruit candidates who have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship and who have lived in the UK for the last 5+ years continuously.
