Prime Care Technologies provides flexible hosting, managed services and cloud software solutions to long-term care providers. Based in Duluth, we are currently recruiting for a Sr. Network Engineer who can provide expert level engineering, implementation and maintenance tasks on our networking infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs the most complex engineering, implementation, and maintenance tasks on networking infrastructure and equipment.
- Collects and analyzes system statistics and provide recommendations as needed.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software.
- Serves as troubleshooter on complex system problems involving IP, VOIP and security protocols
- Provides support to user management and provisioning platforms and processes.
- Creates logical and physical designs/diagrams of new environments.
- Responsible for network capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
- Proactively assess potential items of risk and vulnerability in the network and systems
- Maintains close contact with existing vendors of equipment and services.
- May evaluate vendor cost and quality of equipment and services.
- Coordinates with vendors on the installation of hardware and software and training where applicable.
- Makes recommendations to management on desirable additions and developments.
- Provides guidance to less experienced engineers and provides technical support to the escalation and field team as needed.
- Performs configuration, debugging and support for multiple infrastructure platforms.
- Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery
- Works with other technical staff members, sharing information and collaborating on all applicable projects and/or escalated issues and resolution.
- Combines experience and knowledge to assess issues, research and evaluates options, and provide solid solutions.
- Mediates discussion and resolves issues between individuals with differing perspectives.
- Stay abreast of the latest technology trends
- May travel to customer sites to provide additional support and troubleshooting or lead implementation.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, computer engineering or equivalent combination of training, advanced certifications, education, and prior job experience that would provide the required skills and abilitie
- Must possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in the following subject areas: Wide Area Network topologies such as MPLS, IP/VPN, BGP, OSPF, Point-to-Point, IPSec VPN Tunnels, Fortinet/Cisco Routers, Switches and Firewalls.
- Must be proficient in IPSEC L2L-VPN, Access Control Lists, NAT/PAT, network sub/supernet, and other networking standards.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in at least 1 of the following subject areas: Fortinet and/or Cisco Routers, Switches & Firewalls, Voice Architecture to include ShoreTel/Mitel, Cisco Call Manager Express or Similar Phone System and Network Management Systems (NMS) such as What's up Gold, Zabbix or similar NMS. Wireless vendors: Ruckus, Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, UniFi, Aruba, Aerohive/Extreme Networks. Wireless site surveys, planning and deploying.
- Wireshark - filtering and analysis.
- Previous experience managing network operating systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Advanced Computer Networking Skills consisting of:
- Knowledge of protocols, security, capacity management concepts and performance tuning.
- Experience with system maintenance including security, load monitoring, and backup.
- Knowledge of network terminology and standards of deployment.
- Experience troubleshooting network clients and Servers.
- Experienced in the evaluation, design and implementation of network clients and Servers in a Wide Area Network and Local Area Network installation.
- Understanding of data center operations and procedures.
- Network Operating Systems
- Cisco - Internetwork Operating Systems (IOS, IOS-XE).
- FortiOS - Fortinet Operating System
- SonicOS - Sonicwall's security operating system
- Working knowledge of operating systems and platforms including networks, programming techniques, and database technologies.

- Skilled at analysing complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical, solutions.
- Ability to present complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and network operating systems and expertise troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a variety of software environments.
- Exceptional customer service skills with expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving complex computer related problems
- Relevant and demonstrable technical support experience in a software environment
- Self-directed, able to prioritize and effectively handle multiple projects at a time under high-pressure and challenging situations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work quickly and accurately in a shared community environment.
