Technical Design Lead

Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Architecture team to deliver the design and vision for projects and the architecture practice
• Contribute to overall architectural support and solution for the Business Units whilst taking design lead responsibility for one or more projects
• Provide Technical design and implementation leadership for programmes of work including:

1. Ownership of the successful implementation of projects under remit
2. Assist the Project Manager
3. Technical escalation
4. Co-ordinate implementation tasks

• Assist in ensuring industry best practice, compliance with IT Strategy, policies and standards across all technology deliveries

Knowledge and skills in the following:

• Traditional Infrastructure - Servers, Storage, Wintel, HPUX, SAN Storage, Networking, Telephony, backup/DR and virtualization platforms
• Modern Workplace, remote working, O365 Productivity stack
• Cloud service experience - AWS and/or Azure
• Security infrastructure and best practise
• Integration hub development

Application technologies knowledge such as the below, would be beneficial:

• Databases - SQL, Cache, Oracle
• Financial services systems - Crest, SWIFT.
• Business Application Management - SUN Accounts, MTD, Payroll.

Experience as follows:

• Experienced Senior Engineer
• Wintel support and delivery experience
• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Confident at managing relationships and communicating at all levels
• Delivery oriented and ability to work under pressure in a complex business environment
• Excellent documentation skills
• High levels of initiative, professionalism and independence
• Broad understanding of the commercial and regulatory environments in which Rathbones operates and its key strategic objectives
• Articulate technologist with demonstrated ability to communicate technology solutions in relevant business terms
• Knowledge of information/data aspects of a broad range of technologies used in Rathbones IT (eg line-of-business applications, analytics, collaboration technologies, CRM, mobile, web)
• Deep technical expertise across 5+ of the knowledge & skills, and application technology areas
