What is this job like?

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to provide support to the IT Department with specific responsibility for the Moodle VLE. The successful candidate will have considerable experience of VLE Site administration. You will have specific responsibility for the support, maintenance, and administration of the Moodle VLE.

The job holder is typically responsible for:

  • Administer Moodle queries
  • Provide technical support for queries in relation to Moodle
  • Provide and prepare LMS consulting, training and technical documentation
  • Provide day to day issue resolution and support to key stakeholders
  • Regulate and enforce the Moodle style guide and course structure standards and guidelines
  • Provide guidance on best practice in Moodle site/course structure in relation to online learning
  • Stay current with technical trends and research improvements

Typical work activities include:

Manage all Moodle courses/accounts/tools

  • Assist the projects with future upgrades and backups to Moodle contents
  • Management of Courses, including but not limited to; updating course properties, creating courses and enrolling users via enrolment keys and/or batch processing, course utilities ie import, export, archive, restore, etc., course configuration options, group(s) and site hierarchy management
  • Provide support to stakeholders and internal teams in the area of multimedia storage, course cloning, coping, backing-up, retrieving and setup processes
  • Execution of User Management, including but not limited to; user accounts: batch create users, change passwords, customize information, etc., organisation roles: ie create and assign
  • Configure management and documentation of Reporting Environment and all custom reports
  • System management pertaining to user registration, enrolment/un-enrolment and groups
  • Monitoring of system effectiveness in satisfying user needs
  • Working with end user support services for roll-out, issue resolution and quality user experiences
  • Update information, news and all regarding data and its programs and courses displayed at the landing page
  • Manage all landing page content, modules and plug-ins
  • Consult and support instructional designers and course developers about technical concerns for all university courses
  • Participates in special projects for the university as needed

What you bring to this role

  • At least two years' experience in development and administration of Moodle LMS
  • Working knowledge of relational database concepts, Client Server concepts, systems security, authentication systems, disaster recovery, and service life cycles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Patience in stressful situations
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent problem solving & Multitasking skills
