Buyer - Building Material Supplier

The Buyer will be responsible for creating purchase order tracking systems, alerting management when orders have been filled and invoices from vendors have been issued, answering vendor questions and providing them with additional order documentation as needed. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts with knowledge of sourcing a large range of finished goods mainly from China and the Far East. Client Details My client is a growing building material supplier based near Dartford, Kent. Description The buyer will have the following responsibilities: Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders. Research, select and purchase quality products and materials. Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing. Process requisitions and update management on status of orders. Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels. Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery. Analyse market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions. Coordinate with inventory team, management, and stockroom as required. Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.Profile Buyer or Senior Buyer with extensive direct purchasing knowledge, ideally with exposure to building materials. A good level of education and ideally CIPS or degree qualified. Knowledge of purchasing products from the far east. Advanced Excel skills. Able to organise and prioritise workload. Able to work effectively with a range of suppliers, customers, staff and managers. Proactive approach and able to use initiative.Job Offer £35,000 - £40,000 + benefits
