Kemper Insurance is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA for our office in Jacksonville, Florida. This Sr SQL Server DBA will have a major focus on Advance Performance Database Monitoring, Tuning, and SQL Optimization. The position will also be responsible for managing smooth operations related to multiple SQL Server Database environments running on premise and AWS Cloud.
Support multiple instances (Production, Test, QA and Development)
Support and implement high availability environment using SQL Server CDC, SQL Always On, Must have working knowledge of DPA SolarWinds (Ignite)
Analyze and implement the physical database design and structure, ensure enterprise database environments are in optimal condition, manage production databases in Client environments, and support complex problem-solving challenges.
Create and review physical data models, coordinating data security restraints and actively supporting test plans/environments, benchmarks and statistics.
Improve the quality and reduce defects in all database environments by providing performance monitoring and tuning optimization.
Perform backup and recovery procedures.
Follow back up procedures to ensure the recoverability of all production data for operational and business continuation needs.
Provide Level 3 and Level 4 application database administration production support to resolve complex problems including on-call support 24/7 and closing of helpdesk tickets.
Coordinate with data security to provide appropriate security, SOX compliance and secondary authorization.
Communicate, manage and monitor production Service Level Agreements (SLA) with local and remote users.
Ensure sound database definitions, structures and documentation.
5+ yrs of Experience that includes advanced performance and tuning expertise in SQL Server. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of principles, concepts, and theories in own discipline, and has extensive knowledge of principles and concepts in other functions.
Administer and troubleshoot SQL Server databases including security patching, SQL tuning, Instance tuning, memory utilization, highly skilled in identifying and resolving complex query bottlenecks.
Load balancing, Query optimization, Schema design and database performance tuning, must have detailed working knowledge of DPA SolarWinds to include Proactive Alert Notifications
Experience with optimizing and supporting large multi-terabyte production databases.
Strong understanding of Linux operating system, storage solutions, ASM.
System architecture, Data Base & Schema design as well as high availability concepts.
Experience in change management process for managing change of a complex environment.
Exceptional Analytic/Problem-solving/Troubleshooting expertise and attention to detail.
Strong skills in SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripting.
Bachelor's Degree in information technology, engineering or related field
3-5 years of proven experience in complex database environment.
5 years Performance and tuning experience. Demonstrated proficiency in backup and recovery procedures.
MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred but not required.
Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
