Pivotal is seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Software Engineer to support
and lead fast-paced projects while working closely with a small group of
scientists, engineers and business leaders in a start-up environment. The
candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis and implementation of
BSP and application software running within a Linux OS on embedded hardware.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and
to operate within a flexible, fast-paced program dedicated to advancing the
state of the art Holographic Beamforming Antenna systems. The candidate will
have the ability to work with systems, hardware, test, RF and product
engineering teams. The work can include lower layer Linux BSP, drivers,
embedded firmware development as well as higher layer network protocol
software. This position reports to the Director of Software Development and
Test Engineering.

Responsibilities:

Develop BSP: including u-boot/bootloader, device drivers; etc.
initial board bring-up and system integration
Maintain and support embedded Linux (yocto) build system in a
continuous integration environment, including packaging and deployment of
software using version control
Develop application layer software that may operate across a
distributed network node platform
Participate and contribute to software architecture for a varie
hardware components
Maintain and enhance current embedded Linux kernel code and scr
Implement prototype software on prototype hardware with product
intent
Interact with internal and external customers as needed

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in EE, CE, CS or related degree (advance
preferred) with multiple years of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer/
Firmware Engineer or related title
Strong proficiency with C/C++, embedded Linux
Experience seeing a product from early stage design through bei
shipped and supported with a real world customer
Solid knowledge of Linux kernel internals (process scheduling,
management, IPC) and networking protocols and file system
Experience working on low latency and high data throughput
applications
Experience in developing and debugging device drivers, bootload
board support packages (BSP)
Understanding schematics, experience with logic analyzers,
oscilloscopes; Practical development understanding of version control; etc
The individual must have excellent communication skills and coo
with a cross-disciplinary team throughout all phases of development
Experience with ARM processor, GNU toolchain

Desirable Expertise:

Advanced degree in EE or related
Security experience with bootrom, authentication/encryption, ha
accelerators
Experience with RTOS
