About our Organization
We are the Heinzerling Community, and we provide compassionate, respectful care to children and adults with developmental disabilities. We offer a wide range of services in a residential setting to support and care for children and adults with severe or profound developmental disabilities. We work to create a nurturing environment in which every resident has opportunities to learn, to have fun, to feel safe, and to make choices about what happens in their lives. Our dedicated staff is well-trained to provide the expertise, assistance, and support needed to help residents enjoy experiences where they live and in the community.
This position is responsible for providing the overall management of the residential living area, supervision of direct care staff, and coordination of services provided by other members of the team. Unit Managers are responsible for communicating policies, procedures, and updates to staff. Unit Managers have responsibility for resolving staffing and scheduling needs.
Requires High School Diploma or GED and experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; friendly, helpful disposition; strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multi-task.
Summary of Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures a safe living and working environment for residents and staff
- Plans and prepares work schedules to assure adequate direct care coverage on the unit
- Supervises, instructs, assists, and evaluates Direct Care Assistants (DCA's)
- Communicates, trains, and enforces personnel policies and procedures
- Maintains accurate records and documentation of work performance
- Trains or assists in training new DCA's
