My client has been at the forefront of their industry sector for decades, providing innovation and ground-breaking technology solutions to an industry sector that was old fashioned prior to the creation of their products and services.

They have a number of new and innovative projects and are for a Senior Frontend Developer to join their London team. The role will find you managing a small team and therefore they are looking for someone with these qualities. This could be in the form of formal managerial technical leadership or for someone who is looking to step up into a role such as this.

Your responsibilities;

  • Maintaining and developing the existing NextJS application;
  • Creating greenfield projects using predominantly React w/NextJS;
  • Be able to manage and implement a project with timeframes;
  • Communicate clearly with other employees, including UX, designers, managers;
  • Ensuring the code you write is bulletproof (browser cross-compatibility);
  • Working together with the QA team to release your project(s);

During the current Coronavirus issues, the team is working remotely, however, once this period has come to an end you will be expected to be able to travel to their London offices. For the right candidate, there is the option of working from home, however, again you will need to be able to come to the London offices for meetings, etc.

Must Haves;

Eligible to work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship.

  • Be an expert with React, Redux, and optionally NextJS (SSR experience good to have);
  • Be able to write unit-tests, and be familiar with React-specific unit-testing, such as Enzyme;
  • Setting up a project from scratch, with Webpack, unit-tests, dependency management, etc.
  • Experience working with RESTful data services;
  • Manage code using version control (Mercurial mostly, but some Git);
  • Have a good set of interpersonal skills;
  • Be capable of mentoring and pair programming (previous experience nice-to-have);

Desirable experience;

  • Previous experience with NextJS and some React Native;
  • Have a general appreciation of UX principles;
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies (ServiceWorker, WebSockets/SSE);
  • Have a working knowledge of Python and SQL;
  • Have an open-source portfolio to show, such as GitHub or BitBucket;
  • Be familiar with UNIX-based systems;
  • Charting experience, such as Charts.JS;

  • JavaScript (ESNext, React, NextJS, Angular, jQuery, vanilla);
  • CSS (SASS, Styled Components/Emotion, vanilla);
  • Python/PHP (Django REST Framework);
  • Database (MariaDB, PostgreSQL);
  • Version Control (Mercurial, Git);
