This small, but growing team is a spin-out from the University of Cambridge, founded in 2018 and based at the prestigious Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge.  They’ve recently secured significant funding and have been awarded several high-profile government grants!  As a result of this success, they are growing their world-class multi-disciplinary team and recruiting for two experienced software engineers. You’ll have the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of science and technology and your software will be key to the success of their products. You will create systems to meet world-class standards and you will maintain, analyse, test and improve them. You’ll work closely with a range of experts: from Quantum Photonics Scientists, Mathematicians and Electronics Engineers, to Product Designers and Business Developers.  The focus of the role will be to develop graphical applications both for customer-facing product lines, as well as for internal R&D projects: from driver to graphical application. Your responsibilities will also include developing software in C/C++/C# and Python to interface both with proprietary and third-party scientific equipment.  Junior candidates are likely to have up to 5 years’ experience. Senior candidates must have 10+ years’ experience and also have leadership/mentoring skills. In addition to this, all candidates must have: A First-Class Degree in a numerate subject such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics from an excellent university (may consider a high 2:1) A Grades at A’ Level in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry Experience working as a software engineer in industry. Experience in Graphical Application Development (GUI). Experience of Embedded Software engineering. Experience writing software drivers. Experience of programming high-speed interfaces like USB, Ethernet, and PCIe. Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive thinking, creativity and a positive mindset.
