Position: Ecologist

Location: Ballymena/Republic of Ireland (will consider remote working from home)

Role: Initial 6-month contract (potential for long-term work)

Salary: Dependent on Experience

Neo Environmental are seeking to recruit an ecologist to join our expanding team working on projects in Ireland. The position will offer the right individual the opportunity to work for a well-established and growing multi-disciplinary consultancy.

The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of projects, with the main focus on renewable energy developments. You will be given plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and expertise through on-going mentoring and training. The candidate should thrive in a busy work environment. The role will involve providing support to senior-level ecologists within the company.

The successful candidates will ideally have at least 6 months' post-graduate ecology experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.

Job Description & Duties

•Assisting and undertaking ecological surveys including:

oPhase 1 habitat surveys

oProtected species scoping surveys

oBat surveys

•Liaising with Senior Ecologist(s)

•Report compilation

•Liaising with clients and other stakeholders

Essential Criteria

•Phase 1 habitat survey experience

•Degree in ecology or similar

•Good knowledge of UK/Irish ecological legislation and regulations

•Experience of phase 1 / Fossitt habitat surveys

•Technically competent

•Attention to detail, reliability, and good organisational skills are essential as the successful candidate will be required to aid in the production of reports for clients

•Must be flexible and willing to travel across NI and ROI, with occasional overnight stays away from home

•Full driving license and own transport

Desirable Criteria

•Bat survey experience

•Ornithology experience

•GWDTE experience

•Bat license

•Clerks of Works experience

•Post-graduate qualification in an environmental subject

•Knowledge or experience using ArcGIS or similar

•Other protected species licenses

•CIEEM accredited

•CSCS/Safe Pass
