Are you interested in the transition to the low carbon economy? Do you have a passion for sustainability? Do you want to make a difference?
Ecuity Consulting is a growing, highly focused consultancy specialising in strategy, regulation, policy and politics affecting the sustainable energy sector in the UK and in the EU. We specialise in helping our clients to achieve tangible and meaningful changes in regulation and policy that will make a real difference to the uptake of sustainable energy. In addition to shaping energy policy, we make it our business to understand the key developments driving change in the energy sector. We use our strategic insight gained from this experience to translate complex regulatory frameworks, technological developments and market trends into clear actionable advice for business and organisational leadership teams.
The role sits within a small, dynamic and impactful team. The successful applicant will be interested in energy policy, shaping energy markets and be able to provide objective, evidence-based arguments which influence how we think about, generate and use energy. Our work is designed to strengthen the voice of our clients to influence change at a national level and to ensure that we transition to a low carbon economy, protect our environment and minimise the impact of climate change.
Candidates will be considered from a range of academic backgrounds. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated grasp of economic, energy or regulatory policy principles and the potential to develop deep subject matter expertise. This is a great opportunity for an individual interested in sustainability and the low-carbon transition to work within a highly motivated team to help achieve action on climate change.
Some responsibilities and duties
•Conduct research into current and past policy (related to energy, energy in buildings and other environmental issues), commercial business and other relevant areas of interest.
•Write reports including policy position or advocacy papers, policy insight pieces, client briefings, blogs and contribute content for other works where necessary.
•Integrate and articulate client positions in responses to government consultations, inquiries and calls for evidence.
•Develop project management capabilities through the delivery of a diverse portfolio of work, identifying and co-ordinating inputs from other members of the Ecuity team.
•Present briefings, research findings for and with (potential and current) clients, at external events and at meetings with a variety of organisations.
•Attend meetings with government officials and key stakeholders to communicate client positions and influence the policy landscape.
•Draft proposals for potential clients leads, preparing for, attending and participating in client meetings. Help to create sales opportunities by networking and developing good relationships with people in the industry.
a)Experience and qualifications - the successful applicant will have a relevant degree (2:1 minimum). Some experience and understanding of energy policy, economic analysis, government processes, the decarbonisation agenda and/or public affairs would be advantageous, but we would consider candidates with less experience if they have the right aptitude and are keen to develop.
b)Communication - we need to be able to convert complex issues into easily understood analysis, reports and presentations. We regularly develop and publish high quality reports proposing policy solutions to Government and industry. Attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate written documentation is essential. You will also need excellent oral communication skills and feel confident communicating your ideas appropriately at all levels of the organisations that we engage with. This will occasionally include leading and presenting at meetings, roundtables, and conferences.
c)Organisation and time management - the nature of our work requires an ability to handle competing priorities/deadlines. We are looking for someone who is well organised and can develop and implement work plans to ensure that deadlines are met.
d)Relationship building - an important part of the role is to develop successful relationships with clients, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders. You will be able to build strong relationships internally and externally; you will be a successful team player who is committed to working collaboratively.
e)Passion and dedication - we are passionate about the low carbon transition and we are dedicated to ensuring that the future of our planet is both different and better and we want you to share that passion. The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for supporting the move to a greener economy.
