Electronics Design Engineer - Smart Energy - Max £45K - Hook, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 plus 10% bonus & benefits
Location: Hook, Hampshire
This is a long-established but industry-leading firm at the forefront of smart metering (eg. SMETS2). As well as the metering hardware, their offerings include a range of software solutions, communications hardware and related accessories. They now require an experienced electronics engineer for a full-life cycle design role.
The experience required for this role is as follows:
- A minimum of three years of commercial experience in analog electronic design (Examples: linear or switched-mode power supplies, PCB technology, RF design)
- Experience in quality processes (please note this is a design role though, not a quality-biased role)
Highly desirable, but not absolutely essential, are:
- Experience in certifying electronic/RF products for the European market (RED, LV, RoHS)
- Experience in electronic manufacturing process (DFM, testing, automation)
This is a full life cycle electronics design role, in that you would be defining, designing, testing, validating and certifying their products for metering in the utilities industry. You will be the owner of the electronics design. Depending on your level of experience, you may be mentoring more junior staff.
Although long-established, they are at the forefront of their industry: For example most of their UK installations at present are SMETS2.
As for career path, it's up to you, whether you choose a more senior engineering role or management.
Why come here though, what's the attraction?
Because here you would be part of the future of the smart energy: You would be working on high quality projects in high volume and so, as the hiring manager put it: There's an internal reward in the satisfaction of doing that job well and enabling people to make more informed decisions about energy usage and rescue the planet!
