Technical Services Engineer - £37,000 + £2000 OT - Guildford

My client, a global consultancy, with offices in over 230 countries is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join their busy Guildford office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business on the forefront of technology.

The Technical Services Engineer is a key role within the Digital Self Service organisation, responsible for the day to day operations of technical services to their customers. The role will require 1-2 weekends per month and evenings on-call cover as well as the occasional morning.

Main activities;

  • Investigating, troubleshooting and fixing 2nd line support issues
  • Managing the escalated call queue
  • Finding solutions to support their calls
  • Pre-emptive systems Monitoring
  • Participate with on-call duties
  • Setting best practises and standards
  • Ad hoc project work as required
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as designed by the manager

Essential skills;

  • Demonstrable experience of 2nd/3rd line support
  • Experience and understanding of the following technologies;
  • Windows Server 12 and later
  • MS SQL Server 2014 and later
  • Desktop build, image management and release control
  • WSUS and Patch Management

Desirable skills;

  • Powershell, C#, VB Scripting experience
  • ISA Server/TMG/Third-party Firewalls
  • IP Networking
  • Database Administration
  • Technical Integration
  • Network engineering
  • Experience working for an organisation in the IT Services or Consultancy industry
  • Engineering knowledge around EPOS, PEDS, Self-service kiosks
  • Reporting and transaction monitoring
  • Scalability and capacity management
